The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs provides leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of all academic programs and many service areas. The Provost serves as the chief academic officer of the University with responsibility for academic and senior-level internal leadership and serves as the primary representative for the President in his absence. The Provost also coordinates the team of senior staff to achieve the University's established major goals as identified by the President and the Board of Trustees. This team coordinates reporting units, carries out teaching and learning initiatives, and works with other representative bodies to maintain the university's tradition of shared governance.

Noren Everts previously served as interim senior vice chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. She received her bachelor’s degree in English and secondary education, master’s degree in literacy education and English and Ph.D. in administration, curriculum and instruction from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Serve as Provost’s consultant and manager for day-to-day operations including report writing, drafting plans for implementing decisions/policies, and covering meetings/events for the Provost as needed; Coordinate strategic planning for the Division of Academic Affairs; Serve as the Academic Affairs representative on the University’s Educating Illinois Strategic Planning ; Supervise the Director of Interdisciplinary Programs, the Director of Academic Services, and the Provost Office support staff; serve as Chair of Academic Planning Committee responsible for the annual five-year academic plan and program reviews as mandated by the Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE), and as curriculum and new program liaison to the IBHE; serve as the University's liaison to the North Central Association Higher Learning Commission monitoring University and program accreditation with regional and specialized accrediting bodies.

The Associate Vice President for Graduate Studies, Research, and International Education has oversight responsibility for the Research and Sponsored Programs office, the Graduate School, International Studies, and interdisciplinary units such as CeMaST. The Research and Sponsored Programs office is the conduit for all sponsored research in the University including compliance issues related to research. The Graduate School serves graduate education through recruitment, admissions, retention, and graduation support activities to Colleges and Departments.

The Associate Vice President for Technology has oversight responsibility for the University's Campus Technology Support Group, which includes Classroom Technology Support, Student Technology Support, Institutional Web Support, Computer Infrastructure & Internet Support, and Telecommunication & Network Support. The Campus Technology Support Group is responsible for building a "technology-friendly campus" in support of teaching, research, public service, and outreach activities at Illinois State through the application of state-of-the-art computer and Internet technologies throughout the University and campus residences. The Associate Vice President for Technology also supervise the Center for Teaching, Learning and Technology with Assistant Provost Chuck McGuire.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management and Academic Services are Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar (with responsibilities for the Undergraduate Catalog and Scheduling), and University College (which includes Academic Advising, Preview summer orientation, and various units offering student academic support services). The Office of Enrollment Management and Academic Services assumes a leadership role in monitoring on-campus enrollment by coordinating the establishment of enrollment targets for academic programs and the University; works toward providing students with a seamless transition to Illinois State from admission to graduation; coordinates academic support and transition services for prospective and currently enrolled students; and coordinates various communication efforts for all areas of EMAS as they relate to students, faculty, staff, and university constituents.

The Assistant Vice President for Academic Fiscal Management serves as fiscal agent, providing general oversight and accountability of budgets and budget priorities for general revenue, agency and foundation accounts for the Office of the Provost and the Division of Academic Affairs.

In addition Dr. Wilson also serves as director of Summer Session where she evaluates, plans, organizes and promotes for-credit courses in the summer session.
