Spring 2009 Course Reassignment Grants

Faculty Development Course Reassignment Grants are designed to fund faculty re-assignment from a teaching assignment to work on professional development activities that will result in their learning new areas or skills to enhance their scholarship or pedagogy, and sharing this new knowledge locally with colleagues. That is, in contrast to most other internal grant opportunities, these grants are intended to fund projects with substantial promise to enhance recipients’ ability to expand their competencies as scholars, instructors, and mentors.

Who is Eligible?
All tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply.

Amount of the Award
Awards are up to $4,000 and will be made to Departments/Schools to replace the faculty member in a course. Course reassignments will be made for the Spring 2009 semester.

Please note that these awards are contingent on funding.

Examples of professional development activities this grant is designed to fund include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Learning a new research technique
  • Starting a new research or creative program
  • Investigating/learning a new pedagogy
  • Developing a course in a new area
  • Initiating a new collaborative project in either research or teaching
