Resources for Faculty and Staff

The Office of the Provost, and related offices, provides the following resources to assist faculty, staff, and university offices in professional pursuits.

The Academic Plan includes the University and College mission statements, institutional priorities, academic unit objectives, and program reviews.

Refer to the Academic Operating Calendar for important dates and deadlines.

In addition to being accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Illinois State is accredited by several discipline-based accrediting agencies.

The Appointment, Salary, Promotion and Tenure (ASPT) document describes the committees involved in the ASPT system and their activities, the policies for the appointment of probationary faculty, and sets minimum levels of achievement necessary for sustained progress in the areas of Promotion, Tenure, Performance Evaluation, and Salary. Additional resources include ASPT Calendars - sorted chronologically and by ASPT category of activity.

Awards recognizing excellence in advisement, teaching, research, service, and technology are presented to faculty and staff at the Founder's Day Ceremony held each February. New for 2006-2007, the Excellence in Civic Engagement Award recognizes an exemplary and ongoing, group (curricular or co-curricular), civic engagement project that promotes intellectual and experiential student learning and understanding of civic engagement.

Annual budget-planning preparation, program review preparation, and program self-study enable all academic units to review individual contributions and effectiveness of contributions to University performance indicators. Budget forms, documents and budget presentations for each of the colleges and support units are available to assist administrators, faculty, and staff with their budget requests and planning.

The purspose of the Faculty Handbook (pdf) is to provide an overview of the benefits, programs, and services available to faculty members. The Handbook also communicates general responsibilities and expectations the University has for them as a faculty members.

Forms and documents are available to assist administrators, faculty, and staff with planning, curricular revisions, recruiting and hiring faculty, planning and more.

Academic program review documents learning outcomes and identifies actions for program improvement. To assist academic units, the Program Review Guidelines document outlines the process, the self-study report guidelines and identifies critical elements of student learning outcomes assessment plans.
